A small change can make a garment easier to wear, improve its fit and help you feel more confident. Learn the basics of hand sewing and get comfortable with a home sewing machine. Discover which simple alterations you can tackle yourself — and when it’s best to leave the job to a professional tailor.
What we’ll cover:
- Measuring and marking while discussing fit without judging bodies.
- Sewing a basic hem and choosing the right stitch.
- Replacing a button or adding a different fastener.
- Getting started with a home sewing machine.
- Exploring simple accessories, fabric choices and first steps in garment alteration.
- Making time for questions and practice.
Bring: One clean garment to discuss. Tools and practice fabric are included. Altering your own garment during the class depends on the task and available time.

Classes are for adults aged 18+, regardless of gender identity or sexuality. You can ask for a technique to be demonstrated again, take a break or choose to observe. Nobody has to model an outfit or be photographed.
